Jupiter, FL -
Whatever floats your boat - there's an endless array of adventure and water sport opportunities in the Jupiter area!  Our river system extends all the way to the Atlantic Ocean, traveling through the Jupiter Inlet.   The water flows through three diverse branches of the Loxahatchee River.  One of which, is part of a state-designated canoe and kayak trail.  Several miles of the NW fork of the Loxahatchee River are protected, and federally designated as a "Wild and Scenic River"; this portion flows through Jonathan Dickinson State Park.

You can also explore the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) by boat or kayak, and check out the great sandbars, snorkeling areas, and small islands.  You can play along the ICW by car as well, accessible on Jupiter Island -- this is a great area for snorkeling, swimming, and exploring by paddle board.  The area on the east side of the Jupiter Lighthouse property, heading northward, is part of the beautiful Indian River Lagoon and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Natural Area.  Known for its azure blue waters, teaming with life, it is especially enjoyable during the "incoming" high-tide when the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean are flowing into the inlet and waterways.

Offshore, we have wrecks, reefs, and ledges for fishing or diving; we get occasional waves for surfing, body-surfing, kayaking, or stand-up paddle boarding.  We even get nice on-shore breezes for sailing, wind surfing, and kite-boarding.

We have fantastic fishing (both inshore & offshore) and world-class drift diving.  Our local reefs are very productive, and offer a variety of fish, lobster, and larger aquatic species for the avid fisherman and photographer.  This is due to our sub-tropical location and the fact that the warm, nutrient rich waters of the Gulf Stream flow so close to our shores, providing an environment that attracts a vast array of sea life. Most of these water sports are available year-round!

Want to stay dry, and avoid the water, then be sure to check out our biking and hiking trail page, for information on the best shared-use trails our area has to offer.  Here you will find detailed maps, and a variety of trails/terrain for you to explore in our parks, greenways, and natural areas along the Loxahatchee River corridor.

There is more to see and do in Florida than many of you may realize. So if you take some time to explore, you should be able to canoe, kayak, swim, sail, fish, paddle, dive, float, boat, skate, pedal, row, run, ride, bike, hike or camp in at least some of our area's treasured getaways.
